About

Benoit Luc takes a holistic and regenerative approach to horticulture, garden design and landscaping services, creating extraordinary gardens from his base in Wollongong, NSW on Dharawal Country.

Inspired by principles of Indigenous agriculture and land management, permaculture and low-impact design, at 19 Benoit first began exploring permaculture as a tool for sustainable development when living with Maasai tribes in Tanzania and studying under world-renowned permaculture designer, Geoff Lawton. He continued this work over subsequent years, teaching and taking part in regenerative design projects across Australia, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Benoit’s passion for regenerative design technologies and his enduring curiosity has led him to explore practiced ecology in permaculture, Indigenous agricultural practices, bio-intensive organics, market gardening, mycology, bamboo architecture and other natural building techniques. Each of these approaches now informs his work and has contributed to a deep understanding of the uses and limitations of urban development.

Above all, our dynamic approach to landscape design intends to inspire a sense of connection to and reverence for the natural world.

Manifesto

  1. We aim to restore and regenerate environmental systems using low-impact, Indigenous technologies and regenerative methods.

  2. We aim to facilitate deeper interactions between people and their environment, creating a more connected, sustainable and reciprocally beneficial ecological system.

  3. We use regenerative design principles in residential landscaping in order to set foundations to restore and regenerate ecological systems, minimising environmental impact in urban development.
